📣💡Y6 Taskmaster Parent Breakfast📣💡

Year 6 held their Taskmaster Parent Breakfast. we had a good turnout of grownups who came along to join in with a fun task and learn all about what Taskmaster Club is all about.

Teams had to build the tallest, freestanding structure with 4cups, 5straws, 2balloons, 4sheets of paper and some tape. Parents and pupils worked together in the time limit. We saw great cooperation, communication, teamwork, resilience, determination and, most importantly, fun! Thank You for all that attended.

PRIZE TASK - due Friday 24th October- Bring in the most unusual hat!! Remember it can be a real object or a drawing with an explanation. Most peculiar hat wins! GOOD LUCK

🎃✨ Fun Learning in FS2 This Week! ✨🎃

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in FS2! Our little learners have been superstars — exploring numbers through subitising and representing 1, 2, and 3 in so many creative ways. 👏

In literacy, we enjoyed the lovely story “Pumpkin Soup” 🥣🎃 — a perfect autumn tale that got everyone talking, sharing, and imagining their own soup recipes!

We’ve also been strengthening those fine motor skills with lots of Pen Disco and Dough Disco fun 💃🖊️ — dancing, drawing, and moulding our way to confident writing hands!

And of course, our Phonics sessions have been full of blending, and discovering new sounds together. 🔤

FS2 is full of smiles, curiosity, and learning through play — we’re so proud of our amazing children! 🌟

Special thanks to the parents who attended our workshop this week and our phonics drop in sessions.

Next week we look forward to more amazing learning as we dive into composition in Math, writing instructions in Literacy and of course more fun!

Parent’s Guide to Taskmaster Club

Welcome to the world of Taskmaster Club—a creative, hilarious, and confidence-building program where students complete imaginative tasks inspired by the hit TV show Taskmaster. Here's how you can support your child and be part of the fun!

What Is the Prize Task?

Each week, students may be asked to bring (or explain) their entry for the Prize Task—a fun challenge where the best item wins points for creativity, relevance, or uniqueness for their group. Sometimes the item can’t be brought in because it’s simply too big (Buckingham Palace) or an abstract concept (love), in those cases the students can draw or write down something to represent it. It all comes down to the explanation as we are trying to encourage the children to develop their reasoning skills and justify their decisions.

  • Examples: “Bring the most unusual pencil case” or “Bring something that makes you laugh.”
  • Tip: Help your child choose something safe, school-appropriate, and imaginative.
  • Explain: Encourage them to think of a reason why their Prize Task entry is the best.
  • Note: Items will be returned unless otherwise stated.

How You Can Engage With Your Child

  • Ask about the weekly task: “What was your challenge today?”
  • Celebrate effort: Praise creativity and teamwork, not just winning.
  • Encourage storytelling: Let them explain how they approached the task.
  • Watch clips of Taskmaster together (child-friendly ones!) to get inspired.

Supporting at Home

  • Help gather materials: Many tasks use everyday items like paper, tape, or string.
  • Practice creative thinking: Try mini challenges at home like “Make a hat from kitchen items.”
