   Our Y3 pupils are diving into their swimming sessions starting Tuesday, 10th February, and swimming all the way until 7th July, 2026! Please make sure your child brings their swimming kit to school every Tuesday, so they can make the most of this splashing good time! Times are a little bit different this year! Please can Y3 Tanzanite arrive at school for 8:30 AM, as the coach will pick you up at 8:50 AM. For Y3 Citrine and Y3 Zircon you can stick to the regular school arrival time.
   Dear families, In a bid to make uniform more affordable, we have decided to change our school uniform slightly. Pupils can now wear navy blue sweatshirts/cardigans either with/without the logo, white polo shirt, plain black jogging bottoms/leggings/skirts, black shoes or plain black trainers, children no longer need to wear ties. Girls can wear a pull over type (not loose) scarf in navy or black
   FS2 parents come and join the fun and activities at our food for life workshop on Thursday 4th June at 9am in the infant hall We will make a seed tape, fruit kebab, and you will be able to take some seeds home to start growing �� We look forward to seeing you there!
   Our Y6 children will be joining “Crucial Crew” on Friday, 5th June at The Lifewise Centre in Rotherham! This engaging program by South Yorkshire Police covers important topics like Home Fire Safety and Road Safety. We'll leave school after registration and return by 3:00pm. Please pack a lunch and water for your child. For those eligible for free school meals, lunch will be provided. The cost of the trip is £9.
   Our Y4 children have the opportunity to go to an event at The Montgomery, Sheffield City Centre and hear a presentation from the author of one of our favourite books – The Boy at the Back of the Class. This is a great way for students to learn more about the book and gain further excitement for reading. The event will take place on Monday, 8th June 2026 The cost of the trip is £2 to cover the bus fares to and from the event. Please give your consent on the arbor app and pay all money to the school office. Children will return to school after lunchtime therefore children will need a packed lunch, as usual if they are entitled to Free School Meals one will be provided for them. Home time will be as normal If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.
   On Wednesday, 10th June, our Y2 kids are off to High Hazels Park for an exciting writing adventure! They'll be creating an information leaflet about Sheffield. Parents, please confirm you've given consent for local visits on Arbor. It's a free trip, and each child will enjoy a packed lunch! Don’t forget to send them with a backpack, a labelled drinks bottle, and appropriate clothing for the weather. We’d love to have some parent volunteers join us! If you're interested, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
   On Tuesday, 16th June Year 5 will be going on a trip to The National Space Centre in Leicester. As part of the ‘Space’ topic, they will explore the 6 galleries which are crammed full of space suits, rockets, satellites, and meteorites. Additionally, children will visit the iconic Rocket Tower and the UK’s largest domed planetarium.   Children will be eating their lunch at the museum, therefore will need a packed lunch and a drink. If your child normally has free school meals, they will receive a free packed lunch.   Children need to arrive at school no later than 8:00am and we will be returning to school around 4 o’clock.  The cost of the trip is £20.00 which includes entry to the museum and a planetarium show where children will be immersed in a full 360º cinema experience. It will also include transportation by coach to and from the venue. If you need to pay this amount in instalments, please speak to the office and they will arrange this with you. All monies need to be paid through the arbor app or by bank card with the school office as we no longer accept cash.   If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher or any member of the Y5 team.

If they have a library card, remind them to bring it to school to borrow books during the visit,  and if your child doesn’t have a library card yet, you can easily sign up at the library.

A very warm welcome!

I am incredibly proud and privileged to lead High Hazels Primary Academy and look forward to welcoming and introducing you to our fantastic team, who are proud to serve Darnall and the surrounding communities.   

We are committed to ensuring the children of this community continue have the best education possible by following the principles of United Learning Framework for Excellence ; The Best from Everyone, Powerful Knowledge, Education with Character, Continuous Improvement, and Leadership in every Role. Therefore, making High Hazels Primary Academy a hub of academic excellence which everyone associated with will be proud of.   

 We are a school who welcome children from three to eleven years old.  Our school is a family where everyone is valued and recognised as an individual. It is a place where talents and interests are nurtured, and all are encouraged to aim to be the very best they can be in all aspects of life. We believe that every child has the ability to shine, given the right care and support and that our similarities and differences are things we celebrate with pride. 

The life of our school is driven by our core values of Respect, Confidence, Enthusiasm, Creativity, Ambition, and Determination. Learning is brought to life through high quality lessons, real life experiences and opportunities to recall and apply knowledge previously learned.
