FS2 Learning Update – What a Busy Week!

This week in FS2 we’ve been super busy and having lots of fun while learning!

👩‍🍳 Cooking Adventures

We enjoyed making roasted pumpkin and sticky ginger buns! The children loved getting hands-on in the kitchen and trying new flavours.

💪 Staying Healthy

We learned all about how to look after our bodies — eating well, brushing our teeth, and exercising. We also explored different food groups and talked about Fair Trade and why it’s important.

🌴 Palm Oil & the Rainforest

The children looked at which foods contain palm oil and discovered what can happen to the rainforest when certain products are made. Lots of thoughtful discussions!

🔢 Maths – Sequencing Events

In maths, we have been learning how to sequence events and talk about daily routines.

🎶 Sing-Along Performance

We’ve also been busy practising for our Sing-Along performance — the children are very excited! Don’t forget to grab your tickets! 🎟️✨

What a fantastic week of learning! 🌟

Healthy Eating

🌟🎃 Healthy Eating 🌟🎃

In FS2, we've been diving into the world of healthy eating, and we had fun trying boiled pumpkin! 🥳 After the taste test, we used our rainbow fan to discuss all the delicious flavors. It was such a fun way to learn about nutrition and explore new foods together! 🌈💚 #HealthyEating Read more

🐧❄️ Exploring Arctic Animals with Our Senses! ❄️🐻‍❄️

Our Nursery children have been discovering animals that live in icy places! Using magnifying jars and pictures, they looked closely to spot who might be hiding inside. 👀✨

We also used our rainbow sense fans to help the children talk about what they could see, feel, and hear as they explored the animals — encouraging rich language and sensory learning. 🌈🔍

How Does Your Digestive System Work

Y4 dove into the fascinating world of our digestive system! 🥳 We learned how our bodies turn food into the energy we need to play and learn every day. From chewing to digesting in our tummies!

Students had a blast creating fun diagrams and sharing what they discovered. Did you know your small intestine is about the length of a bus? 🚍😮 So many amazing facts to learn!

Arctic Animals

❄🐧Arctic Animals ❄🐧

The nursery children have been using pictures from our story Arctic Animals to build their own “who doing what” sentences. This activity helped them practise early sentence structure, strengthen their vocabulary and develop their understanding of the actions different Arctic animals can do.

They looked carefully at each picture, then used their own pictures to build the sentence on their shape coding boards. They then practised naming the pictures and reading their sentences aloud with growing confidence. 🌟

This activity supported:

✨ Early reading skills

✨ Speaking and listening

✨ Vocabulary building

✨ Understanding the world

A wonderful way to bring our Arctic learning and literacy skills together! ❄️💙

This Week in FS2!

Despite lots of illness this week, we have had another amazing time in FS2 ! The children have been absolute superstars.

➕ In maths, we explored squares and rectangles, finding them all around our classroom and using them in our activities, learning about their features.

📚 In literacy, we continued our exciting Supertato story work — and things took a dramatic turn!

We kicked off the week with a huge surprise when we discovered that the Evil Pea had escaped! 😱

Luckily, our quick-thinking detectives in FS2 got straight to work, creating brilliant wanted posters and warning everyone to keep their eyes peeled for that mischievous pea!

🥔 The highlight of the week was definitely all the fantastic entries to our Supertato Spud Competition. Thank you so much to everyone for your creativity and effort — the children absolutely loved sharing their potato superheroes!

Here’s to a healthier, happy week ahead! 💚✨
