   Dear parents Y4 pupils will visit Ponds Forge every Tuesday morning from 10th September - 28th January for swimming lessons. For each lesson your child will need to come to school dressed in their swimwear (underneath their school uniform). They will also need to bring the following: • A towel • A waterproof bag • A change of underwear
   Parent's evening is now live! please book your appointment now we will hold our Autumn parents evening on Tuesday 15th October and Wednesday 16th October 3.30 - 6pm. Parents, please make appointments via the arbor app, or contact the school office if you would like help to do this.
   Dear families We will have the Scholastic book fair in the Junior Hall starting Tuesday 15th October. Please see opening times on the picture attached. Families will be able to buy a variety of children's books. When families purchase books, school is given a cashpot to spend on books too. Last year due to all the purchases our families made we were given £167.20 to spend on books for our new library. Many thanks to all our families who purchased books last year.

   Y1 Giddy Goat Crucible Trip Dear Parents/Carers On Friday, 18th October the Year 1 children will be visiting Sheffield Crucible Theatre, to watch a performance of Giddy Goat. This is part of a music project the children have been involved with. The trip will leave school at 9am and will be back in time for home time. Children will receive a packed lunch from school, however If your child has an allergy, please provide their lunch for them. Who has their singing voice ready ?

   We would love to invite parents from Y2 Moonstone (Miss Swain's) class to watch their showcase assembly on Thursday 24th October at 2.30pm. The children are so excited to showcase examples of work they have done so far this term. Please come along if you can.
   Dear families The last day of half term is Friday 25th October. School will be closed from Monday 28th October - Friday 1st November. All staff and children will return to school on Monday 4th November.
   This year the parade will be held in Phillimore Park and entertainment and food are available at Phillimore school. The event will take place on Tuesday 5th November! Bring your lanterns and enjoy the fun. Please arrive at Phillimore Park with your lanterns for 3.30pm, ready for the parade to start. Please note photography will be taken at the event and used on social media
   As part of our topic on ‘It’s Getting cold Outside’ and ‘Autumn’, we will be looking at nocturnal and woodland animals. On Tuesday, 12th november we have invited the Wise Owl Falconry to visit us with a range of birds including owls to support our understanding of their way of life. To help us fund this visit we are asking for £4.00 to be payable via the app which will include a photo of your child with a bird. Please also consent on the arbor app. The company and the school have put a detailed risk assessment to ensure all safety measures are in place and in line with government guidelines.    Dear families This half term, Y6 have been studying electricity in science. To support their learning, we will be going on an educational visit to Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham. This is sure to be a fantastic opportunity for all! The visits will take place on: •Tuesday 12th November 2024 – Y6 Rhodonite and ½ Y6 Amethyst •Wednesday 13th November 2024 – Y6 Sapphire and ½ Y6 Amethyst We aim to leave school at 9:30am, so please bring your child to school at normal school time. We aim to be back in school for 3:15pm. If there are any delays, the school’s office team will contact you by 3:00pm. To ensure you can receive any updates on delays, please check your contact details are correct at the school’s main office. We are asking for £15.00 per child which covers the cost of the coach, full access to the Science Centre and a workshop. Please return payment in full via the Arbor app. For this trip, children must wear full school uniform. You will need to provide your child with a packed lunch. If your child is eligible for free school meals, a packed lunch will be provided for them. Many thanks
   New School Uniform for September 2024 Dear families, In a bid to make uniform more affordable, we have decided to change our school uniform slightly. Pupils can now wear navy blue sweatshirts/cardigans either with/without the logo, white polo shirt, plain black jogging bottoms/leggings/skirts, black shoes or plain black trainers, children no longer need to wear ties. Girls can wear a pull over type (not loose) scarf in navy or black

A very warm welcome!

I am incredibly proud and privileged to lead High Hazels Primary Academy and look forward to welcoming and introducing you to our fantastic team, who are proud to serve Darnall and the surrounding communities.   

We are committed to ensuring the children of this community continue have the best education possible by following the principles of United Learning Framework for Excellence ; The Best from Everyone, Powerful Knowledge, Education with Character, Continuous Improvement, and Leadership in every Role. Therefore, making High Hazels Primary Academy a hub of academic excellence which everyone associated with will be proud of.   

 We are a school who welcome children from two to eleven years old.  Our school is a family where everyone is valued and recognised as an individual. It is a place where talents and interests are nurtured, and all are encouraged to aim to be the very best they can be in all aspects of life. We believe that every child has the ability to shine, given the right care and support and that our similarities and differences are things we celebrate with pride.
